In moments of disaster and uncertainty, simple acts of service can become powerful reminders of hope. Over the last several years, Mount Auburn members have partnered with Samaritan’s Purse to serve communities affected by hurricanes, tornadoes, fires, and floods across the country.
Through these relief efforts, volunteers have stepped into difficult situations to offer practical help, encouragement, and the love of Christ to families facing loss and devastation.
Responding When Help Is Needed Most
Since 2023, Mount Auburn volunteers have joined Samaritan’s Purse relief teams in some of the hardest-hit areas across the United States. From tarping damaged roofs and clearing debris to mudding out flooded homes, volunteers have served wherever help was needed.
In many cases, the work goes beyond rebuilding homes. Volunteers also spend time listening, praying, encouraging homeowners, and simply being present during overwhelming circumstances.
As one volunteer shared:
“In the process of being a servant to others in need, I’ve grown stronger in my walk with Jesus Christ.”
Bringing Hope to Communities
Mount Auburn volunteers have helped support several rebuilding projects through Samaritan’s Purse, including the 60-home “Hope Acres” community in Mayfield, Kentucky following devastating tornadoes and flooding.
Teams have also served in Hindman, Kentucky after severe flooding and are currently helping rebuild homes in Burnsville, North Carolina following Hurricane Helene.
These opportunities allow volunteers to share both practical care and the true hope found in the Gospel.
A Ministry of Compassion and Service
The story of the Good Samaritan reminds us to care for our neighbors with compassion and willingness to serve. Through this partnership with Samaritan’s Purse, Mount Auburn members continue living out that calling by becoming the hands and feet of Jesus in communities facing hardship.
Whether through physical labor, prayer, encouragement, or simple conversations, each act of service becomes part of sharing God’s love with others.
