Celebrating Our Missionaries: Bethany Joseph

Bethany Joseph has been a part of the Mount Auburn family since she was a young child. In 2013, she traveled on a mission trip to Neply, Haiti, where she encountered myLIFEspeaks for the first time and immediately fell in love with the mission and the community. That trip changed the trajectory of her life.

In early 2014, she moved to Haiti to begin serving on the ground, and in 2015 she married her husband, whom she met in the village. During her years living in Haiti, Bethany led the special education department at LIFE Academy, myLIFEspeaks’ school, and helped develop other programming for people with disabilities.

Over time, she was able to invest deeply enough in local leadership that she trained a Haitian colleague to take over the department. That transition freed her to pour herself into a parent and caregiver support group, a friendship program for people with disabilities, Night to Shine, and other initiatives close to her heart.

When political unrest and violence intensified in Haiti, Bethany and two of her daughters were evacuated. In the years that followed, God continued to provide. Her husband was able to join them, they welcomed their third daughter in 2024, and her stepson joined the family at the end of 2025.

Though she is no longer on the ground in Haiti, Bethany remains fully committed to the mission. She now serves as Director of Fundraising and Donor Management for myLIFEspeaks, working hard to secure the resources that make the work possible. myLIFEspeaks believes that when families are rooted in Christ and strong, the community is strong. Through LIFE Academy, a health clinic, a therapy clinic, family homes, orphan prevention initiatives, a feeding program, an elderly program, and the special needs programming Bethany helped build, the organization works to develop a Christ-centered community that changes culture from the inside out.

Bethany is deeply grateful for the Mount Auburn family and for every person who has walked alongside her through the years.
